Wednesday. I'm a bit nervous as it's the first time just the 2 of us. Daddy drove today...
And normally little man climbs around on Daddy and I'm invisible. So we'll see how much he likes flying just with me :roll:

Sore throat: annoying! Hubby swears by hot toddy (whisky, hot water, lemon and honey). I'd rather go for Salbeitee, less potent :mrgreen:

Do you get picked up at the airport? Which airport do you fly to anyway?

Let's see if I can still make it onto page 1.

All with colds and sore throats: hope you're better soon.
@eva-christina: which part of England is your hubby from?
@flying with young kids: Ours got really bored on the plane and was fidgeting a lot. I prefer car journeys really.

Eva: for little ones cough try onion sirup. It really works and our little man likes it.

We're flying easyjet this time, worked out cheaper. Stansted is the pick-up point. Normally I prefer Luton, but all London airports work.
The sandwiches aren't what they used to be anymore :cry: I normally skip the food bit.

BA serves 2 different sandwiches in 1 box, usually a ham and cheese and an egg/cucumber one or something equally disgusting. So, no thanks.
Swiss offers a Laugenbrötli sandwich, the last year it was usually a cheese one (but awful cheese), so no thanks.
And easyjet you have to buy, so no thanks either.
Cityjet used to fly and they had fantastic service, but unfortunately they no longer do Switzerland :cry:

London has quite some airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, City, Stansted and Luton, though Stansted, Luton and Gatwick are somewhat far away from town. I like City, very convenient.
Luton is the closest to hubby's family though, so we try usually to find a cheap easyjet ticket, but sometimes BA or LX are cheaper all things considered. Easyjet now charges CHF 16 "administration fee". What bull!

Kara: I hope little man plays along nicely in the car. Otherwise you'll read about it in the papers... He's still good flying (so far, keep my fingers crossed) and we can keep him entertained with books and such. And it's only anhourandahalfanhourandahalfanhourandahalf... :wink:

A couple goes to an art gallery. They find a picture of a naked women
with only her privates covered with leaves.

The wife doesn't like it and moves on but the huband keeps looking.

... The wife asks, "What are you waiting for?"

The husband replies, "Autumn."

onion sirup?! eew sounds awful.
My throat is much better and little one was really good with her medicine today. i gave her a kinder choccy afterwards :-)

@kara
my hubby comes from tiverton in devon, which is in the south west.
tiverton as such isn't such a nice town, but exeter, where we used to live, is just half an hour away and it's much nicer!! Actually I love the city, it's got a very historical old town and a big university. and also you're close to the moores - exmoore and dartmoore - as well as the sea.
so very convenient.

the only thing is, no flights from exeter airport to switzerland. nearest airport is bristol, but there's only very expensive flights going to. so we have to fly to london which is ok as long as it's not luton or stansted. gatwick is very convenient as there is a train to Reading and from there we normally take the fast train which goes directly to exeter. takes a couple of hours.

we usually fly with swiss or ba. don't like easy jet anymore... swiss is quite pricey but awesome service.

I hope we manage to book a holiday this autumn...but first comes first which means i have to find a job and maybe move and so on...

Eva - there are charter flights to Bristol during the Summer season, they're quite reasonable.
Swiss from Basel is usually cheaper too (sorry, more travelling in Switzerland involved...)
And flybe offers seasonal flights to the South coast as well. Just a thought :wink:

Onion sirup - sounds dreaful, tastes actually nice (not oniony). Chop 1 small onion (not fine), put in a jam glass, put in some Kandiszucker, close the lid and wait until a dark brown sirup appears (approx. 2-3 hours). Then spoonfulls only. Little man loves it :wink:

@mrs bee
I know there are seasonal flights to bristol but never at the time when we want to fly. and we flew from basel before, had to book a hotel at the airport to catch the flight in the morning....it's just too far away and works out about the same when we pay a bit more for a flight from zurich instead of getting a hotel and flight from basel.
