English Chitchat, let's go!!

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
Another week gone, can't believe it. Time is racing at the moment. One week to the start of Kindergarten.
Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
@walks: hubby used to d: walk a bit, carry a bit, walk a bit. Boy used to like that. Later, when he was a bit bigger ( and heavier) they did walk a bit, run a bit, which seemed to work just as well. When it comes to walking, we've got a bit of a lazy one, even though he's bursting with energy the rest of the time
. He's better, when he can take his likeabike, but then we have to run after him, because he gets up to a right speed.

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
Hello everybody and thank you Kara for pointing me towards this forum again
We have been quite busy. Moving with 3 children is doable, but the weeks of packing and unpacking were not easy at all. Little ones were constantly asking for stuff and the only thing I could say was "it's in a box somewhere". But, 2 months after moving, we have settled in in the meantime. I spent days and days putting furniture together, spent thousands in the shops (it's amazing what you need in a house with a garden) and had a very busy time overall.
We haven't renovated a lot yet, but I did get my new kitchen
And the kitchen makes up for a lot of the other things which haven't been done yet.
As for the children: since we don't have a playroom yet, a lot of their toys are still in boxes. But the fact that we put a big swing in the garden (4 children can swing at the same time), a pool and that I bought loads of second hand barbie-stuff makes up for their other toys still being packed.
Yesterday all three the girls started Kindergarden (twins in the big kindergarten, littlest one in the small kindergarten), so I hope that life gets back to normal a bit. The children have gone to bed very late the whole holidays and I am hoping that I will get them to go to sleep again at 19:30 every evening.
And how did all of you spend the holidays???

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
Katreske - congrats to your new kitchen! It does weigh in, no? What are you going to do with all your free time now the girls are in Kindergarden? (Just kidding - I don't know any mother who's ever bored or didn't appreciate a bit more kid-free time).
Hope you're all doing fine. We've had some busy times lately but are all well. Little man and his Daddy are off camping in a weeks time, and I am very much looking forward to the free time!! Hubby and his brothers and friends do this once a yeard: Daddy and kid camping. Is that cool or what?? (Imaging me doing handstands
)
Take care ladies

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
Well done you! Sounds like serious exercise to me
Little man and his Daddy are off for a week of frolicking in the UK: Some camping and hanging out with the guys and then staying with Grandpa. Right now, I'm kind of sad for letting my baby go for a week, but I guess tomorrow morning, when I can turn around again and tuck up in bed with a cup of coffee and a book I won't mind so much. Still, it will be weird, but also good for everybody. Little man believes his Daddy can walk over water and Daddy reckons it's a piece of cake to look after a 2,5 year old toddler. So I guess we will all learn something this week

Charming… as long as you're feeling good: who cares?
Had a very lazy weekend. Both men are off for a week and I'm making the most of it. So: everybody enjoy your weekend!

Hello ladies
Hope I'm not disturbing. I just stumbled upon your thread and wondered whether this is a closed circle or if newbs are allowed in.
I'm actually not a mother-tongue (which is probably obvious), but I'd like to work a bit on my English, so I thought this might be good exercise and also a nice place to do some "chitchat" (as your thread title puts it ^^).
Well, I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. If you're rather to yourselfs though, please feel free to send me away again.
Best wishes, Thala

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
Hi girls (and hi Thalaia, of course you are welcome here)
We had a mega fantastic sunday. The godfather of our youngest unexpectatly brought 2 huge bags of M&M Peanut butter (delicious and addictive!!!!) from the States for me and wanted to meet up to give them to me. Although the weather didn't sound to promising for Sunday, he wanted to show us a beach in Fribourg so we could go swimming in the lake. OK
, so we made a picknick and packed swimgear but also sweaters and raincoats. As it turns out, we had no rain, but it was extremely windy on the beach and we had to fix towels and clothes with bags and rucksacks to keep it all from flying away. But it was also very sunny. So, despite the heavy wind and a temperature of around 20 degrees, we went swimming and had loads of fun. Once out of the water we were of course freezing our asses off. It was such a lovely spot and it was such great fun that we had the nicest sunday in ages. The only negative point was that, bad mother that I am
, I didn't put suncream onthe children because they are already nicely suntanned and it's going towards the end of the summer anyway. So 1 child got quite sunburned in the face.

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
M&M Peanut butter??? Hmm, sounds intrigueing! I like the crunchy version
Thalaia: welcome! We're not a closed circle though we seem to be always the same ones writing
. And we're not native speakers either, but most of us have an English speaking partner or lived in an English speaking country.... So it's really just to keep the English going

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
@ Mrs Bee: you probably do not live too far from me, so if you want to try the M&M's with peanut butter, you can just come by! But be quick because the first bag is nearly empty. 1 kg of M&M's in 4 days
I'm glad we only have 2 bags and not more.

Thalaia: welcome.
Boy had his first outdoor day at kindergarten yesterday and now he's completely made up with cold. He woke us about every hour last night, because he couldn't sleep, worse than a baby

Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
Hopefully your son is better soon Kara!
We had a nasty bout of stomach flu. The classical story: kids throwing up in the middle of the night. Loads of fun for me of course, since hubby was out late with friends. 1 of the twins threw up next to her bed (on a carpet, lots of friendly splatter on her bed, the wall, bed of twin sister, ...). Then she threw up on the way to the bathroom and then luckily everything else went in the sink. After taking care of her for nearly an hour, twin nr 2 threw up in her bed. So you can picture the lovely night I had with vomit in a bed, in the corridor, bathroom, on the pyjama's, .... After 2 hours of cleaning up and taking care of the little ones (girl nr 3 slept the whole time and did not get sick), I went back to bed and .... had to rush out to throw up myself. So we spent the whole friday together in the living room feeling miserable.
Anyway, it only lasted 24 hours, so it was nasty but quick!
Something else entirely: TWINS TURN 6 TODAY!!! JOOHOOO!!!
Tomorrow we have the first real birthday party ever with 9 girls!!!! I hope I'll survive it!

Mmmh, nice... not? Hope you guys are all feeling better. Did you survive the Birthday party?
Re: English Chitchat, let's go!!
@katreseke: sounds like you had a rough night.
Birthday party: 9 kids! Sounds like a lot of work. Hope it all went well. Boy's cold is almost gone. He wasn't the only one at kindergarten. He seemed to enjoy last week: one of the girl's dads invited them to visit the fire station and they got a ride back in one of the fire cars!

Ooooh, fire enginebus! Little man would be comatose! He loves Fireman sam, and his joy and pride is his fire engine.
How are you feeling Kara?
Katreske - everybody back in shape again? Sorry for the stupid question but: did you not wake hubby to help you deal with the sick girls? I know no mercy in that situation
