Wishing you all a nice Christmas and enjoy your holidays.

@ katreseke: presents for boy are sorted, baby girl hasn't written her wishlist yet
We're stuck at home at home at the moment: after several colds with fever, our boy has now caught chicken pox, hubby's got a sore throat, my mum has lost her voice and I've got a cough. Just the little one has got away without anything so far. She had her first check up yesterday and all is fine with her. The doctor just pointed out, that she's at the very bottom of all the percentiles, but so what. She's put on some weight and has already grown 2 centimetres. Oh, and she now opens her - occasionally :D

Boy is better again, but baby girl has got chicken pox now at six weeks old. She hasn't got many spots, but her nose is blocked and she wants to be cuddled all the time. Apart from that boy is creating mess wherever he goes: a roman siege in front if the bathroom door ( great!), police chasing robbers on the landing, Ninjas taking over the living room and now he's just remembered, that he can't find his special agent and wants my help tidying. Baby's room still isn't finished and I could really do with it. I'm pretty shattered, girl didn't sleep the last few nights. We were at my mum's last night and I aost fell asleep on the sofa. That's it from us at the moment.

But still: Wishing you all a Happy New Year.

Hello Girls

English is not my mother tongue. But my Goal for 2013 is to pass the First Certificate of English. I am reading, watching Movies and Series, everything in English. And I try to speak :D

I just saw your group and wanted to ask, if it’s ok to write at your Thread? Because the writing is very important for me :P If you could correct me if I am making mistakes, that would be nice

Looking forward to your answer!

Greetings

Marissa

Hi Marissa - sure, welcome to our little club. BTW: we're all non-native speakers too but most have an English speaking hubby or have lived in an English speaking country for a while. Whether we're capable to correct you I don't know, but feel free to ask!

Kara - oh no, I didn't think such wee babies could get chicken pox. What a nightmare. Hope it's not too itchy (at least she'll have had it then already - we're still waiting for lightening to strike).

All: Wishing you all the best in 2013!! Hope you enjoyed the Festive Season!!

Us: We've been living with Fireman Sam lately. Hubby is now called Penny and I'm Cricklington. Don't know if that's a compliment, but whatever
Luckily Kita and work starts again tomorrow. The last weeks have been very intense what with a bout of terrible twos and not a normal routine. Going to sleep turned into an argument most every night, so not very pleasant. But I'm hoping we'll be back to a more normal way again soon. Otherwise my hair will turn grey for real

Wishing you all a good start!

Hello Ladies
How are you all? Everybody healthy again? Christmas blues over? We still get "oh, look, Christmas tree" every now and then, and of course one would like more presents... yeah, right!

Take care

I've been quite busy recently. Kindergarten child and newborn baby aren't really compatible. But luckily baby girl is quite patient. She's already two months old now. She's still tiny and size 56 now fits her. what a difference to her big brother.
I'm just not really getting quite enough sleep. baby usually has her last feed - about midnight and with hubby working late most evenings, i don't really want to go to bed just as he gets back. And boy has to get up early in the morning to go to kindergarten. We're planning our first trip to Blighty in the sports holidays. Looking forward to that. We've not been for a year now!
Enjoy the snow, while it lasts

Wow, sounds fun. Do you take the ferry to Dover or further north?
Hubby is in UK next week - touring the whole country from Scotland to London, visiting customers. And the weather forecarst is pants...
Hope you all have a nice weekend!

Hello ladies
Hope you all had a nice weekend.
@Kara71: hope you can get some more sleep soon! Sleepdeprivation is no fun! My best friend told me some time ago when the youngest one was about 2.5 and the twins nearly 4, that I finally did not look totally knackered anymore. Apparently I had been looking completely exhausted for about 4 years ...
I hope as well that your little one does not get chicken pox again when she's older. Normally you only get it once in your lifetime ..... apart from when you get it at a very small age, then you can still get it later in life.
Ladies, I wish you all a very nice day!

@katreseke: I think you just can't expect to do everything perfectly. I don't know if I would be able to cope with twins. One baby is very time consuming, even though she's easy compared to what boy was like. It definitely doesn't help that we've had one cold chasing the other wver since christmas. Boy is coughing his lungs up again at the moment. I blame kindergarten
@mrs. Bee:we're doing the usual, Rotterdam-Hull, staying somewhere in Germany on the way up. We're staying only an hour's drive from Hull. It's all nice and clean in the motorway services in Germany with changing facilities for babies. It's still scary, travelling with a two months old, who wants feeding all the time and then takes ages to burp. And on top of that we've reached the leaking nappy stage :|
I hope the weather isn't too bad on Saturday. Did your hubby manage to do what he needed to in England with all the disruptions?

We went to the Deep in Hull to see the fish on Monday. Hubby to our impatient boy ( are we nearly there?): it's straight on here and then there's a sharp left hand turn and then we're there. Boy, almost instantly: do you mean a shark left hand turn?

Kara, yes, he did. It was apparently quite horrible in some places, with lots of high winds and torrential rain, but he did make it.
Hope your trip went smooth. Enjoy your holiday!! How does little Madam enjoy her first trip to England?

Thank you for letting me join. :D

My hubby is from Sandwich, a lovely little medieval town. Quite picturesque. We usually visit my in-laws for Christmas. Travelling with a baby isn't that easy anymore.

Welcome laudine
Do your (Swiss) relatives and friends laugh when they hear your husband is from "Sandwich"
When I was not that long in Switzerland yet, I was shocked to hear there is a "Wankdorf" near Bern
How are all you ladies?
We are more or less fine. Little ones are healthy, I have a cold and hubby is not that well the last weeks (several severe colds after one another etc. etc.). But the good news is that I booked our first real family holiday ever!!! Since we have kids, we have been going on holiday several times to visit my relatives in Belgium, to visit hubby's sister in Italy, holidays with the in-laws in Tessin ... But we have actually never ever been on a holiday abroad as a family ourselves. So now I booked us a week at the Garda-lake for the summer. Just me, hubby and the 3 little monsters. Now that the twins are 6 and little one turns 5 next week, it was about time we had a family holiday, not? Anyway, I am really looking forward to it.
In the meantime I am busy doing an early spring clean at home. It's my birthday this week and littlest one next week and we have several parties planned + my parents come to stay with us for some days. So it's high time our house gets a good cleaning.

Hello Katreseke

Yes, they did. When my husband and I still lived apart from each other, he in England and I here in Switzerland, we used to write letters. Once the man at the post office thought I was playing a joke on him and didn't want to accept the letter.
It looks like you have very busy days ahead. But I'm sure it will be fun. We also booked our very first holidays as a family. We decided that next winter we will not go to England but to our very own mountains, just the three of us. :D

That said I can't wait for spring to come!!!

Wankdorf - I guess that's a classic. Hubby almost fell off the chair with laughter. Yeahyeah, very funny.
I like Friedegg personally

There's a place in Milton Keynes called Furzton. Now THAT is funny

Family holiday: Oh well, I can dream... we'll see if we can actually make it happen. Hubby's father is not well so I guess the next holidays are programmed to be there. Which I can understand but still: going away for a week would still be nice!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend; enjoy the snow!
